Conceptual Change
Moodle is a great tool to use promote conceptual change. One way it does this is it allows you create Wiki's. Wiki's are an excellent tool to use for creative writing, and for putting students in groups as well. Creative writing can be used in any subject. According to Jonassen (2005), one of the best ways to engage and support learners in conceptual change is to help them contruct models of what they are studying using a variety of model-building tools.

How does Moodle promote Meaningful Learning?
Moodle relates to the active attribute of meaningful learning because it allows for students to adapt to an environment that has been progressing for a while now. Online courses are become a huge phenomena in many schools, especially in universities. Jonassen, Howland, Marra, & Crismond (unknown) mention in reference to this attribute that learning is natural, adaptive and a human process. We are moving and have already accomplished great things in technology, and moodle allows for students to move in that direction and adapt to the environment that has been created.
Moodle provides new experiences especially for secondary students. Allowing students to work with Moodle will open their eyes to all sorts of possibilities. I think the discussion board will allow students to interact with each other and they would maybe even speak out a little more that what they normally would in the classroom. This focuses on the Constructive attribute, according to Jonassen, Howland, Marra, & Crismond (unknown), it is essential that learners articulate what have accomplished and reflect on their activity and observations—to learn the lessons that their activity has to teach.
The goal of Moodle is to allow students an educational environment that gives them a place to reflect, use Web 2.0 tools, and provide them with real world situations. Offering this tool to students will allow student to collaborate on specific projects, once the teacher as provided them with a project, the students can then work at it while collaborating online. I think the availability for them to see their grades sets goals without the students even knowing it. If they see their grades posted every time they access Moodle they will know exactly what they need to do in order to achieve the grade they want.
The authentic attribute is where Moodle fits in the best. It provides real world experiences. It is a new way for students to reflect what they have learned, it promotes critical thinking if teachers initiate a discussion board, and it a visual tool that can keep students and parents updated. According to Jonassen, Howland, Marra, & Crismond (unknown), learning isn’t meaningful because students learned to understand the ideas only as algorithmic procedures outside of any context, so they have no idea how to relate the ideas to real-world context.
Cooperative attribute also plays a big role in the Moodle Web 2.0 tool, because that is basically what it is. The discussion boards, which I talked about previously allow for students to talk about specific ideas, ask questions where other students may respond, the teacher can also initiate a discussion as well. Moodle Talk
Moodle is an OpenSource software package, and can be installed on any computer that can run PHP, and can support SQL typed database. It allows teachers to produce online courses and websites.
It allows for teachers to integrate as much online inteaction is they wish. There are standard Modules which provide a course calander, assignment area, glossary, forum, chat, wiki, quiz survey, and lessons area. You can download other modulas at different times which allow for more collaboration among students.
